Director
Brooks Ruyle is an Emmy award-winning director, editor and storyteller. Brooks captures people's passion for what they do, and tells true stories of real human experience. Whether scripted or nonfiction, Brooks is committed to authenticity and emotion in every story he tells. His style can be described as "artistic documentary” – a deliberately artistic visual style and tone, with the authenticity of a documentary.
Brooks’ curiosity comes from growing up in a family of (industrial arts) teachers and librarians, who instilled in him the knowledge that you need understanding, skill and hard work to create something that’s good. Brooks values of craftsmanship, care and attention to detail have translated well to the craft of filmmaking. Forethought and preparation, a fast-paced, agile style of work, on-your-feet problem - solving: these are Brooks’ wheelhouse skills.
Brooks crafts a diverse range of content for clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies - working with advertising agencies, brands and organizations. His brand experience includes: AbbVie, State Farm Insurance, HP, AT&T, Motorola, Illinois Tourism, Northwestern University and many others.
Brooks’ work has received top industry recognition, most notably, as a member of the media team for President Barack Obama’s historic 2008 campaign, winning two Cannes Lions Grand Prix awards in 2009. His most recent projects include work for After School Matters and Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago via Laughlin-Constable.
