Apollo 11, IBM, NYC’s Oculus and Beyond

Mode Project partnered with Ogilvy USA’s NYC office in creating digital out-of-home (OOH) ads promoting IBM’s Moon Walk immersive experience at the World Trade Center’s Transportation Hub, the Oculus. The IBM installation commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing and earned a MediaPost Digital OOH Award.

We composited and animated content for 40 digital billboards located in the Westfield World Trade Center and throughout other NYC Transit metro locations. The animations were delivered in 14 different screen dimensions, including the spectacular 300-foot long screen at Westfield with an aspect ratio of 24,000 x 1140 pixels.

Green screen elements were composited, animated and enhanced by Mode’s design and animation team. The digital ads blanketed the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, which serves 250,000 commuters every day.
